You’ve probably heard the term or phrase “there’s an app for that.” Made popular by Apple in 2009, if you’ve owned a smartphone in the last 6 years, you know that this phrase is becoming more and more true every day. Well Ford got in on the action and developed FordPass. This free app is very simple to use, and is packed with loaded features that are being added onto every day.

You can watch the video above for a step-by-step guide on how to set it up. FordPass is currently available only for Ford vehicles equipped with Sync 3. Take a look at the 4 different menus available in Canada and what you can do with them!

Vehicle Controls
This is the meat and potatoes of the FordPass app. In this menu, you can view and control different aspects of your vehicle. Locate your vehicle using GPS, unlock and lock the doors on your vehicle, view how much gas you have, and even start your vehicle from anywhere in the world! Sync 3 vehicles have a modem that connect to the internet, so as long as both are in range for 3G, you can start your vehicle from anywhere. You can also schedule start times throughout the week when you want it to start. So you can schedule your Escape to start at 7 a.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. every Saturday. So you can get into a warm vehicle without even having to think about it.

My Vehicles
This app won’t dedicate just 1 vehicle to your phone. If you have 3 Ford vehicles with Sync 3, you can connect all 3 of them to your phone and switch between them. You can also view specific details of your vehicle, including your odometer, your license plate number, and your warranty start date and terms. Useful information that you probably would forget. You can also view FAQs of your vehicle, including what certain lights mean, how to use certain features, and how to fix certain things from home. Another way Ford is making it easier to own a vehicle.

My Dealer
We hope the only things you ever come in for are oil changes and tire changes. But things do happen, and Ford is making it easier for you to contact and locate your preferred dealer. Simply set your preferred dealer, and you can directly call without looking up the number, get directions to your dealer, or view their website straight from the app. In the market for a new vehicle? You can view your dealer’s inventory to see if they have something you like!

Park
Tired of driving around aimlessly looking for a parking spot? Well pull over and pull out the FordPass app. Set how long you plan on parking and in what area, and the app will show you all the places in that area you can park for that long, and how much the rate will be. You can also put a GPS pin where your vehicle is so you won’t get lost in a busy mall, and you can set favourite parking spots, so you can find that one you use for Jets games every time.

Have you tried the FordPass app? What do you think about it? What’s your favourite feature? Let us know, and check us out on Facebook and Instagram!
